Castellon Costa del Azahar Airport

How you wish all airports were like this

Depending on your age, you may not remember the hay day of aviation when there was a whiff of glamour and frisson of excitement as you made your way through the airport to the waiting plane, to embark on your summer holiday. To be honest, I’m not sure that was ever much more than a marketeers dream, but even so air travel has changed substantially over just a few short years.

With mass transit by air came lower fares, which is fabulous for us all. But so too came the longer queues and the frenzy of crowds that are often all too familiar. But we get to where we want to go at a low cost, so we accept it as part of the bargain, and maybe can afford the a little more on some luxury accommodation at our chosen destination.

It’s no accident that Casa de Olivos, near Traiguera in Castellon Province, is close to Castellon Costa Azahar Airport. Just 40 minutes by car from our boutique guest accommodation, it was a big component to us choosing Traiguera, for our casa rural holiday apartments. Nice and small with good road connections, it is almost a step back into that fictional golden age of flying, and would give the perfect start to a relaxing holiday in rural Spain for our guests.

Castellon Costa Azahar Airport serves just a handful of destinations, including Stansted and Luton in the UK, and recently Dublin in the Republic of Ireland, as well as other airports across Europe. More often than not you find that the airport opens just for your flight! No problem finding your gate here – there’s only four of them, within one departure lounge. And your passage through the airport, either on arrival or on the way to your gate typically takes just a few minutes.

If you’re hiring a car, the desk is opposite the arrivals area, and your car is just a few metres outside the main doors. If you are looking to combine a relaxing rural Spain holiday with a city break in Valencia and/or Barcelona, then you can even drop off your hire car at one of these city airports on your return trip if desired. Casa de Olivos is central to these two beautiful Spanish cities, if you wanted to enjoy a multi centre holiday, with a relaxing rural retreat in the middle.

The Turismo Comunidad Valenciana information office is well staffed and ready to help you, with leaflets and advice on all the best places to visit and activities around the Valencian region and Costa del Azahar.

However, if you just want a relaxing Spanish holiday to unwind in traditional rural Spain.. then on request, we can be there to meet you at Castellon Costa Azahar Airport* and bring you to Casa de Olivos, for the ultimate start to your luxury holiday with us.

With the current concerns around air travel disruption we have found the Ryanair Stansted (STN) - Castellon (CDT) services unaffected, and even while we were waiting to collect guests at Castellon Airport last weekend, we overheard one arriving passenger comment “I wish all airports were like this”.

What are you waiting for? Come and see for yourself!

Please note - Guests travelling to Casa de Olivos by air may also find suitable routes to and from Valencia, Reus and Barcelona airports.

*Airport transfers according to availability and at an additional charge.
