After too long working in the frenetic world of business we decided it was time to do something for us. Create something special and unique that is the product of our ambitions and hard work, and change the tempo of our lives for the better.
The perfect holiday retreat needs more than just a great location. You also need a personal touch, attention to detail, and a little bit of help from time to time. Casa de Olivos has been lovingly created to make your holiday in Spain a memorable one.
Claire and Ed know how important it is for busy people to get quality time away from work where you can unwind and recharge. We’re here to greet you on arrival, introduce the property to you and make sure you’ve got all you need. And during your stay we’ll take care of the details like pool cleaning so you can get on with some serious lounging.
We are a concierge and housekeeping service as and when you need us, and can serve you breakfast too, if desired. We’ve packed each apartment with information on local shops, bars, restaurants, and other attractions. But if you’d like a personal recommendation or need help making a booking, we’re happy to help.
If you don’t need us, you won’t see us, and you can enjoy your rural holiday in Spain in peace, knowing that all the little details have been taken care of.
In November 2020, our dream took the first tangible step towards reality, as we became the owners of our new Spanish home, perched on the side of a hill overlooking Traiguera and the Castellon countryside. Clear in our minds about what we wanted to create here, we set about planning and developing this boutique, stylish and luxurious accommodation in the real Spain.
Our vision? To share this place with guests from all over the world and give them access to an authentic slice of Spanish life, far from the trappings of the holiday resorts, where they can unwind and rejuvenate, and taste a little of the life we have chosen for ourselves.
When we mapped out what we wanted to do with a Spanish property, we didn’t particularly set out to create somewhere that would bear the ‘Eco’ badge. So often over-used, mis-applied and misunderstood, the term Eco can be shorthand for a rudimentary experience, a little rough at the edges.
We set out to create something up-market and thoroughly enjoyable. Not ostentatious, but not compromised by buzz-words either.
In the end, the property we found was already set up with a degree of self-sufficiency and some sustainable principles. Much of the work we have done while setting up Casa de Olivos is continuing that progress to becoming a sustainable home for us as well as a holiday location that offers a high degree of comfort and maximum relaxation.
We are very proud to have received the Green Tourism GOLD Award which is a worldwide recognised accreditation to acknowledge the support Casa de Olivos gives to the local community and environment.
Moving to another country we felt it especially important to give something back to the new community we were part of.
Protectora El Cau, is a non-profit Dog Protection Association near Vinaros, who rescue dogs from abandonment and mistreatment, to offer them a second chance through adoption. As active members we are sponsoring Nina, a five-year old female who is a long term resident there because of her large size and nervous nature. Claire also volunteers one morning a week to clean out the pens and make sure the dogs are comfortable and cared for. And of course we have adopted a dog ourselves called Olive.
Further afield we also support Tree-Nation, the platform to reforest the world and fight climate change, and are part of their Net-Zero citizen programme! Horticulture is particularly close to Eds heart and this work also reflects some of the regeneration projects we are carrying out at Casa de Olivos.
And finally, as parents ourselves we understand the importance of children needing a secure and supportive home in which to grow up.
So we support Aldeas Infantiles SOS in Spain - part of the SOS Children's Villages international charity, who
care for children and young people who are in vulnerable situations.
